In binary classification, the false positive rate (FPR) is the probability, given a negative outcome, that it is incorrectly labeled as a positive outcome. It is the complement of specificity.
FPR must not be confused with the false discovery rate (FDR), which is the probability that, given a positive prediction, that prediction is wrong.
In information retrieval, FPR is called “fall-out rate.”
