General advice

  • Have questions ready — about team, work, etc
    • All else equal, they choose the candidate with better questions
  • You are not expected to know everything
    • If you don’t know, call it out instead of bullshitting

    • Members of Tao’s current team
    • Alex is a manager
    • Luke is an IC
    • Good people to ask about Tao’s leadership, direction, etc
  • They will be asking about MLOps
    • Higher level system design
    • How I approach problems from an MLOps perspective
  • May also get behavioral questions
    • Be ready to talk about experience and philosophy
  • Use context cues

    • Also on Tao’s team
    • Manahar is a manager

    • Ask questions!
  • Be ready to discuss times I was involved in making decisions in ops
    • how I engaged, dealt with differing priorities
    • advocating for my own team, etc

Sai or Sukret

  • With a partner team (data scientists)
  • People I’d work with very often — want to be in lockstep together

    • There could be a difference of opinion
    • We lean on one another
  • Discussing handoff, how the teams collaborate
    • Work in an example of where I had an idea, but then deferred to the SME
  • General data science questions — no coding
    • Familiarity with ML algorithms

Geet or Anika

  • Product management team for AI/ML
  • They’re not hands-on users
    • But they’re up-to-date on DS/ML
  • Need to be able to explain thought process
    • But you don’t need to explain what NLP is, or what a pipeline is
  • “Is there any part of my response you want me to get into more?”
  • “The logistics of problem solving”

Justin is on PTO starting mid-week next week, so I’ll get feedback from another
